He originally played Dota 2 with his brother for a few months but then transferred over to League since his highschool friends played it and not Dota. He named himself Erick Dota because all of his usual usernames were taken. He thought his internet went out and so he tried “Erick Dota”. The name went through and it was his ever since.

Before we start on the Ultimate Guide to Ahri we first want to tell you why you should play her. Her overall strengths and weaknesses are as follows:

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572
Her wave clear especially in the early levels. Her safety in lane post level 6. Her ability to be blind picked safely in solo queue, as she doesn’t really have any hard counter matchups. Her versatility. You can play utility/pick based on glacial augment or damage based on electrocute. Her unique ability to cancel dashes with her Charm ability.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572
Her lack of raw damage. She is weaker pre-level 6 than most other mages. She is skillshot-based, so if you miss your skillshots you’re mostly useless. Ultimate-reliant. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

These champions give Ahri a hard time in-game due to having a kit that can stop Ahri from doing what she wants to do. Here are some of the biggest counters and how you can try to overcome the challenges they bring.

Yasuo

Yasuo is considered a counter because he can prevent your abilities from hitting him. This makes him very difficult to face in the lane. His W (Windwall) protects him from your Charm and Orb of Deception, which lowers your damage output. He also outscales you, which makes it harder for you in the late game.

Đang xem: Season 10 ultimate challenger ahri mid guide

Annie

Annie is considered a counter because she disables the nimbleness of Ahri. This makes her one of the hardest counters you are going to face. Her point-and-click Q (Disintegrate) enables her to instantly stop your movement and burst you with her Tibbers. This makes you vulnerable and very easy to gank to in the lane.

Anivia

Anivia is considered a counter because she deals way more damage to you in the early game. Trading with her is difficult as once you are stunned by her Q (Flash Frost), she instantly increases the damage of the E (Frostbite) that hits you.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

These champions work well with Ahri and should be considered being picked alongside her if possible. Here are some of the best synergies and how you can abuse them.

Nunu and Willump

Nunu and Willump work well with Ahri, as they enhance the gameplay of her early in the game and bring more pressure to the enemy midlaner. Their passive (Call of the Freljord) increases their ally’s attack speed and movement speed. This will provide the nimbleness Ahri lacks early on. They also lock targets by knocking them up with W (Biggest Snowball Ever!) and holding them with E (Snowball Barrage).

Jarvan IV

Jarvan IV works well with Ahri as similar to Nunu. His combos enable her to land better abilities early in the game. His E + Q combo is enough CC for Ahri to land a free Charm in any gank where Jarvan is able to get his combo off.

Rammus

Rammus works well with Ahri because of his good ganking skills. His Q (Powerball) is a great ability to hit the enemy midlaner and then use his point and click taunt (Frenzying Taunt). Successfully landing his taunt, Ahri can follow it up with a Charm, which usually is enough to secure a kill.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Ahri’s recommended summoner spells are Ignite and Flash. This will increase the damage she can deal from early to late game phase. She has the skills to instantly kill her target, while reducing their healing through Ignite. Flash will add more agility to your movement enabling you to chase and run away from enemies faster.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Ahri’s recommended runes are Electrocute, Sudden Impact, Eyeball Collection, Ultimate Hunter on Domination as primary, and Manaflow Band with Transcendence on Sorcery as secondary. These burst enemies in just a few combos, making them an effective option for Ahri to choose. Electrocute is an effective rune if you are confident in the matchup and you feel your team needs extra damage. If you are facing a melee matchup, you can replace Sudden Impact with Taste of Blood to get a little bit of sustain.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Another option you can consider is using Glacial Augment, Magical Footwear, Biscuit Delivery, Time Warp Tonic on Inspiration as primary, and Cheap Shot with Ingenious Hunter on Domination as secondary. This will sharpen Ahri’s pick identity and will make her Charms and other abilities easier to hit. It also aids Ahri chase targets better as Glacial Augment slows the target. Magical Footwear, Biscuit Delivery, Time Warp Tonic and Ingenious Hunter combined will provide extra sustain and movement speed in the lane.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is another option you can go to as Ahri. You can consider using Phase Rush, Manaflow Band, Transcendence, and Scorch on Sorcery as primary, and Taste of Blood with Ultimate Hunter on Domination as secondary. Phase rush is used against compositions that need to run at you in order to kill you and that are highly kite able such as wehen facing any Glacial Augment user like Cassiopeia, Trundle, Olaf, Singed, etc. It also synergizes very well with her passive, Vastayan Grace

Ahri’s recommended items change depending on the situation. However, the following items will give you a good idea of what to build in different situations.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Ahri starts with Corrupting Potion, which provides the user health and mana regeneration once activated. This also adds a burn every time she hits an enemy with an ability.

Ahri starts with Doran’s Ring if you want to deal more AP damage in the early game while having the mana regeneration and HP to trade hits with the enemy midlaner.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Luden’s Echo is core on Ahri because it gives you all the stats you”d want on her. AP, Mana, and CDR are great for your ultimate (Spirit Rush) as well as your passive (Vastayan Grace), which helps you with wave clear and engages.

Oblivion Orb is core on Ahri, as she wants early damage in the lane. It will give her more pressure on her target. The flat magic penetration gives you another spike in power, and the health it gives is an added bonus to your stats. Focus on buying this after your Luden’s Echo.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Hextech GLP-800 is core on Ahri because it gives you CDR, Mana, and AP. The item also has an active Frost Bolt which sprays icy bolts in a cone. This then activates your Glacial Augment Rune and creates a frozen line in the enemy’s direction, slowing them by 60%.

Twin Shadows is core on Ahri, as the item provides the nine-tailed fox movement speed, CDR, and AP. It also has an ability to cast 2 ghosts that seek nearby enemies and slow them. This procs your Glacial Augment rune as well.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Sorcerer’s Shoes are the standard boots option for Ahri. Take this into most matchups, as it gives you more magical damage.

Use Mercury’s Treads if you are versus a team with lots of CC and strong AP threats. Rush this into matchups like Leblanc, Syndra, and Zoe who rely on landing a CC ability to kill you (chain, Stun, Bubble).

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

If you want to shred through your enemies, you can build Morellonomicon. While it is recommended to build Oblivion Orb, it is rare that you will actually need to finish the Morellonomicon until your very final purchase, as upgrading it is not very gold efficient. Do upgrade your oblivion orb earlier when facing multiple enemies with healing, such as a team with Soraka and Vladimir or Warwick and Aatrox. Executioner”s Calling is much much cheaper than Morellonomicon, so do not be afraid to ask your AD champions to build it if the enemy has not enough healing to where you”d want to upgrade the oblivion orb early.

If you want to burn enemies the longer the fight progresses, you can build Liandry’s Torment. This is a very underrated item that synergizes especially well with the Glacial Augment Build. After your Hextech GLP – 800 and Twin Shadows, build this item so you will be able to handle a very tanky enemy team composition.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

If you need protection against hard CC, you can build Banshee’s Veil. Build this item on your second or third back. This item is great against a team comp with high pick potential that relies on landing a Crowd Control to kill you. Also, build when you are behind the enemy midlaner.

If you want an AP item that gives armor, CDR and ability power at the same time,  you can build Zhonya’s Hourglass. ZH is the opposing part of Banshee’s Veil. Build this on your second or third back when you are dealing with heavy physical damage composition. It is recommended to build the Seeker’s Armguard component before anything else when playing against lethality assassins like Qiyana or Zed.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

An example full build (Electrocute Rune Page) for Ahri can consist of:

Luden’s Echo Sorcerer’s Shoes Oblivion Orb (upgraded into Morellonomicon at the end of your build) Void Staff Rabadon’s Deathcap Banshee’s Veil or Zhonya’s Hourglass

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is the most recommended build path for Ahri when using Electrocute as your rune page. This synergizes your ability to burst enemies with your ability power. Luden’s Echo and Sorcerer’s Shoes will provide early game movement speed and AP as Ahri is defenseless if her Spirit Rush and Flash are down. Morellonomicon, Void Staff and Rabadon’s Deathcap will boost your ability to pick enemies in the Rift. If you are in a tight spot, Banshee’s Veil or Zhonya’s Hourglass will give protection while your allies follow up.

An example full build (Glacial Augment Rune Page) for Ahri can consist of:

Hextech GLP-800 Sorcerer’s Shoes Twin Shadows Liandry’s Torment Void Staff Banshee’s Veil or Zhonya’s Hourglass

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is the most recommended build path for Ahri when using Glacial Augment as your rune page. Hextech GLP-800 and Twin Shadows combination will slow enemies down while you Charm and cast your other abilities. Liandry’s Torment and Void Staff will increase your damage output in the late game. And Banshee’s Veil or Zhonya’s Hourglass will protect you in teamfights. You want to survive longer and reduce the enemy team’s movement with your abilities and items.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This ability gives Ahri the movement speed she needs early in the game. She can proc off two hits from the same ability giving her a slight advantage in some areas. This is an upper edge when escaping ganks as well as poking in the early game with an auto-attack + W + Passive procs to outrun them and Q your targets.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Ahri’s bread and butter ability. The passive it stacks will provide her sustain and waveclear capabilities against the enemy midlaner. Always look for opportunities to both CS and poke with a single Q cast. Focus on hitting Q at max range, as enemies cannot dodge any part of the damage that way.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Ahri’s W is the only skill that doesn’t cancel Q or E. She can use Fox-Fire during any of her abilities’ animation. This is also great for CSing as well as in fights. Remember that your W will always prioritize whoever you auto-attack or whoever you Charm. Use this to your advantage in the mid lane by activating it whenever you auto-attack your target.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is Ahri’s killing move and crowd control. It drags the enemies towards you, which gives you the opportunity to cast more abilities on that target. Save your E in the lane for ganks or when the enemy is in kill range as it costs a fair amount of mana and usually isn’t worth pre-level 5. Land Charm in the lane by shooting it right to the side of the minion wave, grazing it in a way that the enemies think they are safe behind their minions.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is Ahri’s only mobility ability. She uses Spirit Rush for both engages and disengages.  You can reposition, cast other abilities, escape, or close the gap to your targets. With your first ult charge, always position where you can land a Charm. If you land the Charm, you will be able to follow it up with the rest of your combos. You can also Spirit Rush to get off extra bits of damage to the nearest enemy. Your Charm is vital to your combo with Spirit Rush. Use it wisely and amplify the damage of all your other abilities.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

The skill order for Ahri is R > Q > W > E.

Focus on maximizing the power of your Q (Orb of Deception) as it is your strongest ability in play. It is the best option to use when clearing minion waves and hitting enemies, as it heals you and gives you a boost in movement speed. Max your W (Fox-Fire) second as it automatically targets enemies around giving you less to worry about. E (Charm) is maxed last as it is very easy to dodge this ability in an open area. Try to stack CCs with your allies to land a perfect Charm on a target. Spirit Rush is leveled on levels 6, 11, and 16.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

A power spike is when a champion reaches a certain level or builds a certain item that makes him a lot stronger than other champions in the game. Ahri begins to get stronger when she reaches level 9-11 as her Orb of Deception is fully maxed. This will provide her more survivability in trading combos with the enemy midlaner. Her Spirit Rush has also 2 skill points, so the cooldown is reduced around this time. Ahri receives a power spike when her core items in both Electrocute and Glacial Augment builds are fully built. This will improve her playstyle in both builds, while enhancing her pick potential in small skirmishes.

This combo is her basic move to attack the target. Taunt the enemy and quickly use your most damaging ability.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This combo is her standard attack for when you are either engaging or poking. Also, weaving in an auto-attack with the W is recommended if possible.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This combo is similar to the one above. You want to weave in an auto-attack with the W if possible. This will add more damage to the target.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

This is Ahri’s burst combo. You want to use this when trying to assassinate a target. Start with your Spirit Rush to reposition for a Charm and then unload the rest of your abilities. Weave in auto-attacks whenever possible.

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Apr 18, 2020 1 1 1572

Play mainly safe until level 6. On levels 1 and 2, focus on auto-attacking the wave. Use your abilities for poking the enemy midlaner. You have the ability to shove in most midlaners with the wave clear provided by your Q, but remember that shoving leaves you vulnerable. You do not want to push the wave near their turret as you will be susceptible to ganks. Orb of Deception has little damage early on, so freezing is the most important thing you can do. Try to pull the wave closer to your tower and communicate with your jungler to get an early game kill. This is necessary, as Ahri scales better if she builds her core item as fast as possible. Charm the enemy midlaner to your tower and let him get a few hits from it. This will either transition from your jungler ganking and killing the midlaner or them losing summoner spells, so they will be in trouble next time. When the midlaner has a Cleanse, try to remove that spell first by taunting with a Charm and then disengaging after he uses his Cleanse. When an opportunity arises and he has low HP, all-in him with your Ignite and your other combos. When you reach level 6, you will be able to bring more pressure all over the map.

Mid Game

Gaining level 6 will provide you the mobility to secure kills with your team. Use your Spirit Rush and combine CC with your teammates so it will be easier to land your Charm. Always try to rotate and assist your jungler to get ahead in the game. Ahri is very good at engaging fights by picking out mispositioned targets with her R + E combo. Since in the mid game your ultimate has a high cooldown, pay attention to objectives that are spawning.

Split Pushing –  Ahri is a decent split-pusher, as she has good escaping mechanics with her Spirit Rush. She may be able to push towers at times but it is not recommended. Ahri shines when sieging towers and backing up as a mage assassin for the team. Try to engage with your allies to avoid missed Charms that may have helped in upcoming teamfights.

Objective Control – Save your Spirit Rush for any objectives coming up and look to gain mid lane priority by pushing the mid lane minion wave before taking any objectives or doing any plays with your jungler. If you are using an Electrocute Build, you’d want to instantly burst a target. This can either be the ADC or the enemy mage to reduce the enemy team’s overall damage potential. If you are on the Glacial Augment Build, try to hold enemies with your ability to slow down targets. Cripple the enemies with your items first and give your team an opportunity to engage. After using your items, you can utilize Charm to chase enemies that are trying to escape your range. Dragon Souls are very important in this season and most games are won when you gain control of it. Rift Heralds are more useful to take tower plates early in the game.

Late Game

Your gameplay as Ahri will not change. You want to focus on trying to pick someone off from their team. Stack CC with your allies, as it is the most effective way to secure a kill. Maximize your combos and deal tons of damage when you roam around the map. Electrocute build is all about assassinating squishy targets instantly, while Glacial Augment build is better with teammates around you poking and kiting the enemies you have slowed. When your team plans on taking the Baron or Elder Dragon, be sure that your Spirit Rush is available. You do not want to have a teamfight without your only mobility. This will aid you in dodging CC that can burst you instantly. If you are inside the Baron Pit, position yourself where you can dash in and out of the walls. You can effectively do this with your Spirit Rush and prevent any attempts of killing you. Try to play with your team composition strength and reduce their numbers so it would be easy to take the Baron. Elder Dragons are also planned the same way. This will increase your pick potential that will lead your team to victory.

Ahri Tips and Tricks

Ahri’s AA + W combo synergizes very well with Glacial Augment and Cheap Shot runes as your auto-attack will slow the enemy, proccing the Cheap Shot on your W. This damage adds up to be a lot during the laning phase. Do not be afraid to Spirit Rush in place to engage as your ultimate does extra damage and is often what you need in order to kill your target. When using your Q to check bushes, pay attention to your Q passive stacks to know if you hit someone or not.  Use a fully stacked Q on raptors for a quick burst of healing. When starting Doran’s ring, taking 2 points in Q at level 3 allows you to kill the caster minions in 2 Q casts, which is extremely good for a midlaner and why Ahri has better pushing in the early game compared to most other mages.

Ahri Gameplay

These below videos are great game play examples for how to play Ahri.

Frequent Mistakes/Noob Trap

These are things most Ahri players do that shouldn’t be done at a high level elo.

Mistake #1 – Use Foxfire to secure CS over Charm. Charm costs much more mana than Foxfire and is not worth CSing with unless absolutely necessary.

Mistake #2 – Max W over E second. Ahri’s E does very little damage and only grants a slightly higher crowd control duration. You gain much more value out of maxing W second as it greatly increases your DPS.

Mistake #3 – Do not Foxfire before either queuing up an auto attack or landing your charm as your foxfires will target random nearby enemies and not who you intend.

Mistake #4 – Do not be afraid to ult in place for a bit of extra DPS in an engage. Ahri’s ultimate is coded weirdly in that the bolts fire to enemies based on her final destination with her R rather than her starting one. Ulting in place guartantees your bolts to hit the enemy if you are in range and provides you with the extra bit of damage you need to secure the kill on the enemy.

Mistake #5 – Do not finish Morellonomicon unless absolutely necessary. It is not a gold efficient item and should be kept as an oblivion orb unless the enemy team has multiple high sources of healing.

Similar Champions to Ahri

Listed below are some champions you can use to replace Ahri in the mid lane. In a similar fashion to Ahri, they excel at holding enemies and bursting them down. When she isn’t available because she is either banned or picked by the enemy team, you can pick one of these. This will give you a variety to choose from, safeguarding your LP from going down and keeping your games awesome.

Zoe

Great one-shot potential, great damage and Low cooldowns. Zoe is a playful trickster that loves to give the enemy a little nap that will instantly burst them out. She Portal Jumps around you and takes every spell and active items you will be using. If you love to trick players and make shocking plays, try her out.

Neeko

Like Ahri, Neeko is great at roaming, Great burst and Amazing CC with ultimate. Neeko loves to hide between different champions’ colors. Her chameleon abilities enable her to scare off opponents in the lane. She can also trick people and double herself with Shapesplitter and use her ultimate, Pop Blossom, to deal damage.

Syndra

Big AoE damage, Good AP scaling and can stun multiple enemies with E. When you want to bring power to the table, then Syndra is perfect for you. Her Dark Spheres will constantly damage her opponents and show her power. Once she scatters her enemies with her E, they will be stunned, giving her the opportunity to unleash everything.

LeBlanc

High mobility, Insane burst damage and High snowball potential. Leblanc is very similar to Ahri because they both are burst mages. They both have the abilities to help them reposition in order to lan a skill shot( Ahri”s R + E combos vs Leblanc”s W + E), and they both have high outplay potential. Ready to pop some squishy targets? Leblanc”s all you need.
